How did Greece come to dominate the ancient world?

What changed?

What did it leave us?

Description

Greece is generally seen as the place where modern ideas of society and government developed. However, it was no all peace and goodness. Conflict abounded and human rights for non-Greeks were almost non-existent.

Objectives

During this lesson students will evaluate one of the key elements of classical Greece.

Essential questions

How did the society built by the classical Greeks change their world and ourt?

Special instructions

Select from the following list of topics about ancient Greece. Develop an essay about it based on the questions below.

  1. A very brief biography. ( Birth, growing up, life work, adult life, death. )
  2. What made them famous during their lifetime?
  3. What was their life's work?
  4. Include one specific example of their life's work. Give it some pretty good detail.
  5. Why do we still talk about them today?
  6. Include proper citations and referencing. Parenthetical citations are required.

The total for the essay should be about 600 - 800 words. I'm not afraid of reading longer work.
